It all started with an American dream and some broccoli raab.

Meet the Migliorellis

When Angelo Migliorelli came to America from his hometown of San Giorgio, Italy, it was literally with seeds for broccoli raab in hand from his farm in the old country. With some grit and entrepreneurial spirit he created a farming legacy. He planted those seeds in The Bronx in the 1930’s, establishing the first Migliorelli Farm in New York. Angelo eventually passed the family business on to his son, Rocco, who moved the farm up to Red Hook, NY in the early 1970’s where it continues to grow over 140 varieties of heritage fruits and vegetables.

Today, the family business continues under its third and fourth generations, with Rocco’s son, Ken and his daughter, Carly, at the helm. Both learned the business from young ages and were shaped by life on the Migliorelli Farm.

Ken was taught by Rocco, and in turn, Carly was taught by Ken. Growing up on the farm gave Carly vivid memories of what it means to be raised in a farming family.

Carly distinctly remembers her Grandpa Rocky singing Que Sera, Sera at the top of his lungs while he rode the tractor through the fields. “He was a terrible singer”, she says as she rolls her eyes with a smile. Meanwhile, her beloved grandma Benita was busy preparing Sunday dinner for the entire family - a weekly tradition that remains close to her heart.

Memories like these nurtured her love of food and deepened the connection that sharing a meal creates; one rooted, tradition, and the simple joy of being together with the people you love.

As she grew into the business, she forged her own connections in the community and discovered her passion lies in sourcing the provisions that make meals worth sharing.

When the opportunity arose to take over the family farm stands, she knew it was where she belonged. It was a chance to honor her roots, follow her passion and write her own chapter of the family legacy.

“My mission with our markets is to deliver a curated shopping experience that feels both elevated and close to home.”
